What drove Graphics Cards prices up in late 2017?

Many individual people and multi national companies started mining and mining farms. The most efficient GPU for mining at the time was GTX 1060 3GB, so a lot of demand rose for that card which rose the price of GPU drastically.

Why GTX 1060 so cheap now?

GTX 1060 can no longer be used for Etherium mining. Etherium the second biggest cryptocurrency and was most profitable for GPU mining. more than 80% of GPU mining was done on Etherium. Etherium DAG size has exceeded in early July 2018. Other alternatives of GPU mining are not profitable, so many of the miners sold the GPU second hand market. This created high supply and low demand situation which decreased GPU prices drastically, especially GTX 1060 GB. 

Nvidia relaeased new line up of Graphics cards. On September 17, 2018 Nvidia released new  GeForce RTX 20-series. These new Graphics cards perform more than previous best GPU 1080ti for cheaper. As every iteration of GPU release by Nvidia the price of older hardware decreases.

Due to these both factors the cost of GTX 1060 3GB has been decreased form 345$ to 175$.
